Evo VIII MR to a s2000

I'm here LL!
I had one with near 400 bhp and have had 2x S2000.
A standard FQ300 and an S2000 are a very close match in the dry, once on the move.
The Evo is ridiculously fast as a point to point car but not as entertaining as an S2000. The Evo used to make me laugh out loud at some of the things you could do round bends. I took a DC5 owner out in it and he was stunned - said it was better than any fun fair ride he'd ever been on The S2000 can be enjoyed at much lower speeds, and you can get enjoyment from the exceptional gearshift and great steering.
Both are fine as day to day cars, although the Evo can obviously pack a lot of space, is hugely flexible due to the power, and is also very safe in the wet. The plus of the S2000 as a daily car is the roof down (if you are into that) much better MPG, the thrill of 9000 rpm and its a bit more rare than the Evo.
But yes, you will be frustrated with the power until you get on some open stretches or a track. It's not good at stop start type driving - i.e. pulling away quickly. The idea of an Evo on track never did excite me much though, however quick it is.
I'd struggle to choose between the 2 though - I may have to go for both soon. Or Evo for winter and S2000 for summer
All that said, if you are a troll and are on a wind up, we will all find you and kill you.

Not a troll, just sold my my MR on saturday and looking for another car. Wasnt trying to start something. Genuinely intrested in one.
Ive had 3 evo's in a row and want a change. Always liked the s2000's, going to take one out for a spin and make my mind up.

[QUOTE=MC_BLADE,Mar 10 2008, 05:12 AM] I'd say it hugely depends on you - If you are an EVO driver who relies on the car to do the work in the bends - point and squirt and likes the bags of torque so you can just slam your foot down without really using your gears then YES!
The S2000 is a Driver

My bro has a wrx ppp and I have an s2000, they are so different that there isn't really much point in comparing them.
The evo is much faster so yes you will probably initially be disapointed.
That said with a supercharger bolted on you could have an s2000's would eat your evo for breakfast.

When you first drive the S2k expect to feel a bit underwhelmed with the power output. Because the F20C uses revs to get the power rather than torque, you don't get the shove in the back you get from a torquey turbo'd engine so the car doesn't feel like its going as fast as it actually is.
I went from an MR2 turbo to my first s2k and on the first test drive i didn't think much to the s2k. Then i realised that i was nearly always going 20mph faster than it felt like.
You get used to it though, and when you do you realise that its a surprisingly rapid car.
