I've gone using it daily and doing 12,000mls/yr down to weekend fun only and 3k/yr. No matter how much I love it, the cost of insurance is making it a very bad choice for a second car.
Has anyone tried to insure for summer months only, then just theft insurance in the winter?

Sort of - I switched the existing insurance to the winter beater and will switch it back in March when the winter beater will be flogged and I get back in my beloved daily until November, when I'll do it all again - can't bear not being able to give it some proper welly, nor the thought of all that road salt eating away at her undersides.

Hilariously though, my insurer tried to increase the premium - for covering a 12 year old £700 diesel Rover...

Currently my daily as I just bought it and want to drive it.

Happy to keep it off the road until no salt left and dry. My other cars can take the salt bath. I ran a CRX in all weather and it was heartbreaking seeing it slowly corrode away...

I tried to keep mines as a weekend car..

I have a civic vtec sitting at the house, but wont tax it and put petrol in it, as it rather tax and drive the S2000... I do feel bad leaving the poor S2000 just sitting in the rain out side, waiting for me, looking at me... even though I live 2 miles away from work, I still head out the dual carraige way a blast after work

Look at the poor wee car outside, all wet ...

Purely a toy for me, I keep it taxed all year rouind but only use it when its dry and salt free, i'm lucky really as I only live a mile from work and get a Civic company car It would break my heart getting it covered in salt and crap so highdays and holidays only for me.

Cheers.....Tony..

Ditto. Just try to imagine the rush we get. I step out of an S reg straight diesel Toyota Hiace with 2 bhp and feel like flippin superman in an S2000! All adds to the experience
