Eurotunnel or Ferry?

But I think I'd rather be stuck on a ferry in the fresh air. My Dad spent about 4 hours on a broken down train in the middle of the tunnel once. Not fun.
I always feel it's very strange going to the continent without seeing the sea. Somehow the tunnel doesn't feel like you've really gone abroad.
I did the Dover to Bolougne sea cat a few times. That's like a big multistory carpark and you can end up parking on a 30 degree slope.
Ferry is cheaper, the on board breakfast is usually pretty good and a sensible use of time, plus there is more of a sense of occasions somehow.

I should add maybe that I have used the ferries a couple of times.
An overnighter Portsmouth/Caen, where I was probably the last to leave the car decak and the first back down again, just to be sure no-one came too close. See, I'm even protective about my Kuga!
And a couple of weeks ago Dover/Calais (Eurotunnel prices were very expensive at the time) where I purchased priority boarding, was #4 on and off the ship and had loads of space around me (luck of the draw, though). That was quite a pleasant experience overall. But some of the ramps did look a bit S2000-unfriendly.
Btw richmc, the ferry port in Calais has a direct link to the motorway.

Eurotunnel as it means your car doesn't get dinged and scraped by mongs squeezing past you and opening their doors onto you.
As I said, Eurotunnel have told me that the S2000 would go in a single-deck carriage and I'm interested in seeing if anyone has faced "resistance" to that principle when they board.
Never taken the S on the ferry, we took the X5 to the continent so we could fill it with booze and go to a wedding, but we had no problems either way and the X5 is far bigger than the S2k! We had plenty of space in fact.

I've had two Lotus Elises MK1 and MK2 on the Euro Tunnel, both lower and upper decks without any clearance issues. The S isn't as low as the Elise so shouldn't have any problems at all. I'm going over to the Classic Le Mans in the S in July and I've never given the lower deck or upper deck issue a thought.

I've been in a few double decker trains and can't really see what the problem is, ok you were a bit unlucky standing next to the stairs, maybe next time you see the stairs park it further away from it?
I agree with there being plenty of room in the ferry as well, doors won't reach the cars next to it, if you're too scared to park it there you can't park it anywhere else either?
