Its the standard mineral oil put in by Honda from new - i.e. the car has done 4.5k miles total.
What do you reckon - leave it till 9k or change at 4.5 k?
What would you do?
Informed opinions welcome.

Gary, the dealer didn't recognise that part no. for the additive, but after pressing him he did a search and found they didn't stock it
The service manager knew exactly what I was asking for, as they were required to use the additive for any early oil changes due to the oil bolt recall issue on earlier models. I seem to recall now that he said it was not a usual stock item because it was stocked specifically for the recall issue.
At the rate I'm accumulating miles, I'm going to need a third bottle before I can upgrade to my Redline synthetic - might just get one ordered now to be sure I can still get it

Hi All
Just had my car in for its 1st service 12 months old and less than 4000 miles on the clock. Asked about the additive and they sent out the guy in charge complete with the latest service schedule sheet which he showed me, it says no additives to be added to the engine oil on 04 models onward!
As you probably no Honda have done something to the engine on the 04 models to cut down on oil consumption when running in.

One other thing which I noticed in the MY04 manual is the omission for the use of mineral oil only until 9000 miles. Why is that? I have been topping up with the Hrllfords stuff but it doesn't ask for it. Any ideas?

They recomend minerals for the first 9k as part of the bedding in proccess. In reality this can be done in 1000 miles or so but best to stcik to manufacturers recomendations.

I have two invoices now with that part number for the additive, the second being as recent as 21 December.
The service manager knew exactly what I was asking for, as they were required to use the additive for any early oil changes due to the oil bolt recall issue on earlier models. I seem to recall now that he said it was not a usual stock item because it was stocked specifically for the recall issue.

I recited that number 3 times to them, and still he told me it wasn't recognised!!
I have rechecked it myself to make sure I hadn't copied it down incorrectly.
Needless to say, I won't be using them for my servicing.
Interesting to hear that apparently the additive isn't necessary on '04's. This should be in the FAQ's if it's true.
Will it do any long-term harm if I do use it?
