Try the Honda manual too. 10W30 recommended as well as 5W40. Others will no doubt suffice. Mobil 1 is fine.

To be fair, it wasn't really aimed at you, Survey. More just a general tirade.

I know it's contentious and there's no "right" answer, but I still think some form of Oil FAQ would be a good idea. It may not deal with all queries, but it might mean that only every 6th thread is asking "Which oil....?" rather than every 3rd thread, as at the moment

Maybe I'll dig out some of the old oil threads and do something about it.....

Good call, s2ook! It's been ages since I've been in UTH so I'd forgotten about the stick there.

I'll stick a link to it at the top of the UK main forum. It may help preserve MB's sanity, if nothing else!

I have a heap of info on this topic if you'd like it I can e-mail it to you then you can post it all up. I do mean pages and pages of stuff from manufacturers and from SAE and API. I'll edit it down into something managable if you want it.

Oh yes - ANY DECENT BRANDED 5W 40 OR 5W 30 OR 10W 40 OR 10W 30 WILL BE FINE. SYNTHETICS ARE MAYBE A TAD BETTER THAN SEMI SYNTHETICS.

More important is change interal and change mileage. I year (max) or 9000 miles (max).

Does NO-ONE ever use the search facility on this site? Granted, it's not as efficient as some, but god knows there are enough oil threads out there. SOME of them must surely show up....?

Concensus seems to be that any of 5W-30, 5W-40, 10W-30 or 10W-40 should be OK.
Taking note of your comment I looked at the Oil FAQs and my question was not answered, I asked specifically about Mobil 1 Fuel Economy 0W-30, not anything else that you listed. Apologies for adding another post, something that seems to have annoyed you in some way. I won't do it again. Promise.

Again, not aimed at you specifically, juventino. It was more in response to yet another general "Which oil...?" thread.

At least your specific question wasn't one that hadn't been asked every day for the past 5 years!

Thanks - I have to say, though, it is bloody confusing for a newbie! But I will take note of the FAQs and give the service dealer my own oil in this case.
