It's not only stops the gearstick wobbling but also helps in smoother gearbox shifting since the engine doesn't move so much. My opinion is that is better than stiffer engine mounts because it supports the engine on another angle.

OK so given it's just a small gas strut with a couple of metal brackets;

eBay special for £60 or J's/Spoon/Gucci/Armarni one for £200+ ?

I fully understand the "You get what you pay for" when it comes to things like coilovers etc but if you look at the front and rear lower braces as an example, surely no one can tell me the eBay specials from Hong Kong aren't good value.

Unless it does anything magical that I don't know about....

Do insurers need to be notified of this mod? (i.e. engine damper.)

It's not even a small gas strut! It's basically a bush.

The one I had (and have) on my car fitted perfectly.

The one I fitted to Blue Monster's car was a nightmare!

Personally though, you wouldn't find me buying J's anything and the same goes here. £200 is a rip off for what it does.

I can't see why insurers would need to know about this. It doesn't add power and it doesn't change the look of the car. In no way could they say that an engine mount caused a crash.

I look at the design of these and in my simple view, it needs to be fitted in a straight line and not 'angled' like some of the cheaper ones are, it's going to have an easier life if the direction of movement is direclty inline with the engine?

I guess technically they should be but I'll probably wait until I have a few more bits as I tend to declare in batches rather than paying an admin fee every time I ring 'em.

They all seem to mount in the same places from what I've seen.

I'll go for a cheapy and see what it's like I think.
