Default Engine Cut Out, Help!

Hey guys, I know this one has been asked before but its getting worse. I have suffered from what seems to be a common problem of 'hesitation' at junctions etc but it seems to be getting worse. Sometimes when i depress the clutch and the revs drop off, or I blip the throttle with the clutch in, or in neutral, the revs die off almost to nothing. The car then labours for a few seconds almost cutting out and then catches again. However today on several occasions I have come to junctions where I have had to stop and as the revs died off the engine just cut out. Any advice?

Thanks in advance

Mick

When I had a similar problem I was advised it was the aircon compressor seizing, I fitted an aircon delete aux belt and the problem went.

When I fitted the original belt back all was fine, so ????

for a start, read FAQ!

then try cleaning out the IACV with some carb-cleaner/similar.
that should smooth out some of your idle issue, but for some reason i'd guess at something else.

i recently had IACV issues - cleaned it out which sorted the eratic idle/random stalls. i didnt have the bogging down issue though.

Have you been using the throttle to try and stop the car stalling? If so you need to stop doing that as it may need to relearn the idle point.

This can happen after the battery has been disconnected/been flattened?

I would seriously consider searching for MB's idle thread...it's great!

In short, check your throttle cable tension, clean the throttle body and IACV, reset the ECU and go from there.
