Default Electric Buffer

Hi Guys,

I really like polishing my car and obviously enjoying it after (Sad I know) but the one thing I do not enjoy is actually taken wax off after. I used the XXX Hardcore wax on Saturday and it was a real effort to take off the car leaving weird marks which eventually after contact buffing went.

Can anyone recommend a good electric buffer???? Or whether I should even buy one at all. Are they easy to use?

Any ideas, opinions & suggestions welcome!

Practical Classics Magazine this month has a big review of polishers - pop into WH Smiths and have a read.

The Porter Cable 7424 is a good piece of kit, it's used more as a polisher but with the right pad(s) will apply and take off wax etc....
The down side is that you will have to import it from the USA and get a 240-110v transformer, given the current exchange rate it's a good time to import.
See http://www.autopia-carcare.com/son-sfxpol-kit.html

They give a 15% discount on the goods (not shipping costs) and have shipped enough to the UK that they mark the box to avoid the attention of our Customs 'friends'
PM me if you want to know more

I never use a buffer for waxes because it isn't needed. You can wax with carnauba and do the whole car but it will be a lot more difficult to remove it if it is too cold or you apply it too thick. The secret is in applying very thin layers even though the temptation is to apply a lot.
