i have read on the us forums about many people putting 02/03 ecu's into their 00/01 cars. many have said it gives a big imporvement. well i have managed to source an 05 ecu and was wondering if it will work on my 00 car???
i went to honda to check the part numbers on different ecu's and here is what i have found out:-

honda s2000 - 2002
part no. 37820-pcx-g01

Remember that the imobiliser is built into the ECU ....

Each different ECU is slightly different in MAP, which is better is purely what you class as better.

Emissions, power etc etc ??

I have 53 plate engine (so MY02 I would guess) with MY00 ECU, difference ?? I don't know, it works, difference vice versa ??

Certainly not worth the effort if you cant gaurantee it will work. It would be better to do it properly and buy an aftermarket ECU I would say.
