Nice solution if you're using something other than an iPod (which I see you are) but I'm well chuffed with my iTrip which is a cylinder the width of the iPod and of diameter the same as the iPod's thickness, needs no batteries and is programmable to any frequency in the standard FM range that you like.

Just find a frequency that's not too close to another station. I've been told that you are supposed to get a better reception around the middle of the range. i.e. around 95-99, but this could all be crap.
I tend to leave the ipod in my top pocket while I'm using it. My body tends to amplify the signal and give a better reception. (could be aided by the layers of fat ) So much so that when I get over the Pennines towards Manc the signal is even powerful enough to out broadcast radio Lancashire which is on 95.5.
