Dropping the roof?
Evening everyone.
I've noticed that when I drop the roof on my S (MY99) unless I give the plastic window a helping push in the centre, from the outside to in, it doesn't fold evenly and I end up with a crease in the plastic that takes a day or two to fade. Over time I'm sure this would lead to the window splitting.
Apart from a new roof with glass, is there a solution to this?
Cheers
Pete.

Same here only cracked mine 3 times now. I have found that if you half open the roof a little push (from the inside) at the top of the window where it has started to fold pops it into the right shape.

Pour a boiled kettle of water all along the top of the plastic window, then open the roof about half way or until you need to get out to sort out any crease, then leave it like this for the plastic to go cold.
Try closing and opening again to see if it has sorted the problem (as the plastic will now have a bit of shape to it) and should fold no problem.
Also try giving the window a good polish with BMW Z3 plastic window cleaning paste.
I did this to my MY99 and the window and roof are still going strong.

Honda has a bulletin out regarding soft top cleaning and creasing. They recommend using a foam tube, similar to a pool noodle which helps the plastic fold properly. There is a big warning to remember you have it in place so you dont lose it while putting the top back up. Seems like a PITA to me---I just open the top halfway and get out to push the crease down with my hand, then fold it all the way down!

The good news is the gaffa tape on mine has been holding for ages now (though I've replaced it once). I only thought it would be a make do for a couple of weeks solution.
So when it goes, it isn't the end of the world.
