Default Driveshaft/CV joint issue? (Ive searched for threads relating with my problem)

I was wondering whether someone can shed some more light on my situation.
I was driving in traffic slowly when I heard a rumbling noise and shaking from the car. About 5 seconds later, there was no power to the wheels. The car could still go into gear using the clutch but when I brought the clutch up, there was no drive. The speedometer went up as I pressed the accelerator but there was no drive. As I reversed out of my drive I heard a clicking noise, exactly like a knackered cv joint does. The car has been lowered for a while but has not had the driveshaft spacers installed or the cups been changed sides. I have only just bought the car and was planning on doing so. Does this sound like the cv joints have given way? My guess is yes but I would like to hear other people opinions before I get new driveshafts/cv joints. Thanks for help in advance and sorry if this topic has been covered, I did try searching.

The clicking could be hub nuts.

The rumbling and shaking could be heatsoak.

Has the prop shaft come adrift somewhere - heard a few stories about the bolts working themselves free.

Yup, happened me before after i got my second S. It usually happens after its been taken off so clutch, gearbox or diff work. The bolts are supposed to be replaced or use Locktite at the very least. I had total drive though even missing one bolt and all others loose....

If the driveshaft/cv joint had given way, there will still be drive right? Unless both sides had failed?
I can't see anything hanging low by the looks of things.

I'm talking about the propshaft (gearbox to diff) rather than the drive shaft (diff to wheel). Not sure it would hang down too far as there's a loop (or two) that would hold it off the ground

Ok thanks, yeah I know your taking about the propshaft. I was just asking whether if one of the cv joints gave way, there should still be drive to the other wheel right?

yes - as we have a LSD, it would provide drive to the other wheel (non-lsd car would just put all the power to the non-conected side). Would think you'd get some horrible noises though and it wouldn't be good to drive it like that I'd say.

There's no power to any of the wheels so I'm thinking it must be the propshaft. My guess is the person who done the engine conversion didn't put lock tight on the bolts.
What bolts and nuts would I need if this is the problem as I'm assuming they will most probably be missing.
