When I first picked up my S from the dealer, I got them to replace the drivers side speaker as it sounded blown. Which they duly did. However, with any bass at all, it still sounded really distorted. I figured the speakers were crap and so bought some Kenwood 1666 (direct replacement). Put those in last weekend and have realised the issue is not the speaker.

Having replaced the speaker in the drivers door, I tested it before replacing the door card. With any bass, it sounds terrible. The entire door seems to resonate/vibrate really badly. Its incredibly hard to pinpoint exactly what is resonating.

Has anyone else experienced this? Any tips on how to solved?

Is it possible its partly due to the crap head unit? Would replacing that help? I stuck a load of gaffer tape in there around the white plastic cover, but not really helped.

Hi Phil,

I used some dynamat sound proofing in my doors which helps to reduce the vibrations and gives me a lot more clearer base. A lot of info on sound proofing in this forum as there are many options.

You need to use paste on the door cads and the inner door and dynamat on the outer part.

There is absolutely no relationship whatsoever between Bass and OEM speakers and they should not be used in the same sentence.

Dynamat the doors, it'll improve Bass and get rid of any vibration

Slightly off-topic but when you refer to PASTE do you mean paint on sound deadener or something else?
