Don Palmer Creative Driving Course
#21
I went on the Don Palmer course in January 2002. I took a TVR Cerbera 4.2, my brother his Scooby WRX STi and my Dad took his Masser. The day was not at all what I expected. We spent some of the morning talking about why tyres do what they do. Don they took us out in the Scooby to show what can be done - oh boy! He knows what he's doing I can assure you of that.
The day progressed into us taking our cars out onto the airfield runway and following a course of cones set out by Don.
If you are expecting your typical racing driver - you will be disappointed. He turned up in an oversized wooly jumper, a pair of tatty old trainers and arrived in a Pug 306 Diesel!
I can however assure you that the knowledge gained from the day has helped enormously with my trackdays and other motorsport. It's not a cheap day and you have to work hard to get everything that you want out of it.
My advice, before you go, decide what it is that you want from the day, also think about the problems you have with your driving at the moment and he'll sort them out for you.
Good luck out there!!!
