Ok after much swearing and with the help of 2 mates I managed to push the metal inner sleeve in, and its currently kept under clamp until I've got new bolts to whip it straight back onto the car. They are a hell of a tight fit!

I have a problem though, I noticed last night that in my rush to take off the arms I seem to have bent the rear lower arm rear collar slightly - can anyone suggest the best way to straighten it back out? Its bent inwards so can't get a hammer to it that way :/

I'm adamant that you should not have such difficulty fitting the poly bush into the arm...something must be wrong. I'll refer you back to my previous question...is the metal shiny inside the arm? Have you checked that the kit supplied is for your MY?

As for the other collar you mention, a photo of what you are describing would paint a thousand words

When I referred to collars/sleeves in my poly bushing thread, they were always something that I removed before fitting the bushes...others did the same. This thread may help:

You shouldn't need anything other than your hands to insert the poly bushes.

This is what I'm wondering, although from looking at it it doesn't seem to move?

If you look at this picture, do you see the the polybush should fit snug with the arm there is a 'lip' - is that the outer bush that needs to be removed?

I'll take a pic of the collar - its actually the subframe I mean where the arm bolts to.

The metal is shiny inside the arm, but after I cleaned out the rubber...so does that mean there is an outer metal sleeve that I need to remove?

*Ding* that is the outer casing for the old bush ..... as everyone has said above the easiest way to remove this is to hacksaw through it and then use a screwdriver to prise it out.

Oh my god, I don't often say this, but 'doh!'

I just thought it was weird that there were effectively 3 metal parts of that bush that needed to be removed - the inner sleeve, a collar and this outer sleeve! So no guesses what i'll be doing tonight!
