IMHO the S engine does not lend itself to LOUD exhausts.
I followed an S round Europe which had a Skunk2 on (Invidia) it was a PITA.
I do agree the stock one doesn't have that much character.
That is why I like the Mugen one on mine is
Healthy burble below vtec then all hell breaks lose!
Have you got any pics of your car Mikey?

Depends on the car, or rather the engine .. the F20c sounds quite nice when louder.

Any econno-box will sound rubbish.

But I would say that as the J's makes the car damn quiet now (compared).

Prety much all non OEM mods reduce your chance of selling it.

When I look at a car advert (and I look at a lot of them ) if I see a car with mods I don't like, I won't buy it. It says something about the car and it's owner to me If i see one with tasteful / quality / recognised and well thought out bits then I would pay more than standard.
OP is referring to image and perception not resale value.
Personally, Ive had a really loud exhaust on, didnt like the embarrassment and went for a quiet single exit, its still loud above 6k but below is only marginally louder than stock.

Most people will hear a loud exhaust and think "chav". So "yes" is the answer.

Ok, well any *really* loud exhaust on a 4 pot engine makes it sound chav IMO.

Mugen or similar stuff make it sound like it always should have.

I know where your coming from, I have a real dislike of invidia and buddy club on s2000's. Perception is a dangerous thing and if others percieve loud to equal chav then yes it will detract from the overall image.
