Default DIY Alternator Belt Replacement

(Tried searching and couldn't find anything)

I need to replace my alternator belt and just wanted to check with people before I started. I have had a look in the service manual and I just wanted to check that it was litterally untension the pre- tensioner with a breaker bar and lift the belt off and replace.

Thanks in advance

Its the easiest thing really

Takes you less than 5 minutes.. (takes me about a minute or two tops)

If you have a strut bar then you might have to remove the air box in the worst condition, which is basically 2 x 10mm bolts and lift off really

Just make sure the teeth on the belt sit firmly in place on the pulleys and that the belt is in all the way not sticking out at all.. and don't just pull the old one out, follow where the belt goes around on the pulleys otherwise you could waste another few minutes working it out after

Best of luck!

You can get an OEM belt but there are alternatives, its a standard belt size and some even quote 2 sizes, with air con and without. As i recall I have an AC Delco one.

I know OEM OEM OEM

I use a straight forward ring spanner on the tensioner to remove belt tension, the tension is not that huge actually

I've done a bit of research on the aftermarket ones but i'm going to go for one of those later if I take out all the air con.

I'm going OEM basically to get the reciept for service history because my S has pretty much every Honda reciept so I don't want to ruin it (slightly pointless I know but I want it to be perfect for now).
