Serial gauge is great, but for laypeople like me, it's hard to setup.

I have no real experience with aem software and how it operates. The interface on the pc I found to be confusing and there are no real guides as to who to setup the gauge to display what you require.

I'm a total noob when it comes to tuning software so for me personally I found it all very confusing and the guidance non existent. In the end I scavved an already setup file and used that, though it displays data I don't need such as psi and egr temp.

I'm not dissing the gauge in general as it's well out together and very easy to switch between readings, it's just setting the damn thing up which is a royal pita.

Also another thing to note is that serial lead to the gauge is short so it is worth getting a longer one if you want to put the gauge on a pillar pod or like me have the gauge in the audio control area.

Hope the above makes sense

I can send you the software file needed to run it.

Mattie set me the base map years ago and I've worked on it recently to display

RPM
Boost pressure
Oil temperature - just added this yesterday
Water temperature
AFR

Is it worth considering a full new dash display? The dash 2 for example by racelogic?

I think a few people tried them on here running aem ecus and had issues but from reading around they seem to be able to work together now through the canbus.

I did think about it, but I'd rather keep the oem dash and not have to rip it all out etc.

Just out of interest how much would a tuner / aem competent person cost to setup a file with the displays required for the serial gauge?

Just thinking that those of us who have it / are getting one could confirm a set of generic setup readings and then someone could sort it for us.

If it's affordable maybe those of us who are interested could chip in??

Spotted this thread, where someone explains a bit about how to set it up. Might help?

I did start to develop a screens showing digital guages in a pc app but never finished it. The built in dashboard for aem tuner is ok but you have to go into aem tuner etc and open it up, I planned to do a standalone app.
I didn't

How much effort would it be to finish it? I'd be very interested to take a look/help with testing the app.
I didn't do a great deal, are you a software engineer?
