Default Ding dong my S is dead!

Sorry i've not been around much recently - last week the S span off the motorway at 70 straight into the barrier on the M6. The car has been classified as a write off.

I'm absolutely gutted as I loved that car to bits, but I have to say in absolutely no WAY did i provoke the car. As some people know, during the week the car never goes beyond 70 to prevent wasting fuel on the dull motorway run. At the weekend the car got death, and despite ringing it's neck round corners in the wet i've never had a problem.

It's annoying as I was only saying to Dave the other week that i was starting to take it easy as i loved the car so much. How ironic that the time i was doing absolutely nothing but go in a straight line at a sensible speed the car decides to go into the barrier.

I had just passed a number of workmen, and was accelerating REALLY gently, when the car literally span like it was on Ice. No slip from the rear wheels. No warning. The conditions were decent, with no surface water. The workmen ran out to me, and asked if i had fell asleep as they said there was no reason for me to go off in that manner!

A mechanic that inspected the car believes that the car either had a blow out/steering problem. I don't know what to believe.

Anyways here is the damage!

Thanks to all who offered filter parts!

I will be posting some FS bits in due course!

Sorry to hear your news. Must've been hellish scary.

Must admit stories like this scare the hell out of me. I'm always real careful in the wet but it doesn't sound like it was very wet when you're accident happened. And you were going in a straight line.

I'd be interested to hear if it was a 'mechanical' failure, if you ever find out. Although of little consolation to you it would make it easier to understand.

I don't drive my S much as I ride my bike to work and it only gets used for weekend days out. Incidents like yours make me think I should consider swapping it for something far more forgiving.

All the best with the insurance on yours.

Cheers
Gary
