I want to change the gearbox and diff oil and have had a look through the FAQ's
First of all there seems to be a contradiction on the gearbox oil rating, is it 5W80 or 75W80?
Can anyone recommend where to buy it from and approximate cost?
Also how much will I need?
Thanks in advance

Hi mate,
Heres what you need : -
Diff Oil
75W90 GL-5
Requires 1L
Transmission Oil
5W80 GL-4
Requires 2L
I would recomend, Honda's own fluid. Problem is Honda only sell them in 25L amounts. If you ask nicely (and take some containers with you) they will take some from the work shop for you. Honda Barnsley only charged me

Right, it's definately not 5/80!
I am using valvoline DuraBlend 75/90w for my gearbox and changed my diff oil yesterday for Castrol SMX 75/85w.
If you are at all worried go to honda and get MTF![smile.gif](https://www.s2ki.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
You'll need about 4 litres for the whole job

OK so what is it for the diff oil 5W80 or 75W85 or 75W80????
Just checked the owners manual (RTFM
) no mention on grade but it does confirm 0.7L for the diff and 1.5L for the gbox.

I always buy more than 3 litres incase of spilages and such - it's a fiddly job

Without going into it, 5/80 is just too thin at cold.
