Can't you "test drive" a Civic Type R for the day?

The 3DR 1.6SE that Norton Way gave me (for free!) was not a bad CTR substitute.

I tried the "can I test drive a CTR" approach once before. All I got was "Sorry......CTR not available at that time" and then loads of annoying phone calls from sales reps for weeks afterwards!!!

Whilst I was picking up my car from its first service, I test drove a CTR (Crown Honda), it drove well, even speeded passed some old dear who had been stopped by the Police for speeding!! I was impressed, it was a Civic after all. Close ratio gears, firm suspension, pulled away well. Got back into my car and with a minute, naa, I'll put up with Scooby's foibles.

but what sets people apart from the competition is service excellence, rather than (as well as) competitiveness IMHO. If the dealer didnt "pass on" the charge I'd be a more happy chappy, and feel that they wanted my business more
