Has anyone else tried to get a courtesy car from Honda recently? I ask as I've just booked mine in for 72k service, and wanted a courtesy car, they inform me I must sort out and produce my own certificate of insurance for the car!

The last couple of times I've taken it in I haven't needed to do anything like that, anyone else got any similar experiences?

Oh yeah, and my insurance co tell me they won't do it but gave me a web address of someone that does (and its

Took my S in for a 3 year service to Southern Counties, Crawley. They have about 7 Jizz's and a Civic to loan. No problems. And they were a great garage.

Recently went to Stuart Graham Honda in Crewe. Did not go well, would not recommend, awaiting their response to my complaint. Will post a separate thread at a later date ... but I had to add nearly 2 litres of oil and over half a litre of coolant to stop the buring smell from the engine ....

Now had 2 services carried out by Ryland Honda. supplied own oil both times.
(Car is 2 years old with 13,000 on the clock) Don't know costs as servicing was provided free for 3 years when I bought the car.

Booking in 5/10 staff don't know anything about the S2000 or the service schedule. You need to explain what you want carefully.

Workshop 8/10 - very good but then work I have had done is limited. Both times service took 1.5 hours parking up to leaving. On;y slight gripe is the 10 miles test drive!!! Master Tech seems to like the car. all fluids spot on the mark after service.
All instructions followed to the letter by workshop.

Dealer facilities 9/10 - free coffee etc. Nice and clean. Salesman saw me and made a point of coming over for a chat. Mind I am thinking of upgrading the CRV.

Service manager did pick my brains this time as his S2000 pulling left slightly during gear changes when pressing on. (slow puncture was diagnosed correctly by me. )

You have GOT to be joking?!? A service manager?!?

...so much for employing actual mechanics eh??? He probably plugged the OBD-II diagnostic in and when it told him nothing was wrong he told himself the car was fine!

To be fair tyre was only down by 3 psi. You know how the S2000 reacts to these things.
Anyway Carl is always far too busy chasing totty to worry about little things like tyre pressures.

Dealer name: Stuart Graham Honda, Crewe, Cheshire

Workmanship: 1/10

Knowledge of the car: 1/10

Customer service: 1/10

Sales: N/A

Comments: Awful ... truly awful. Realised that there was significant lack of engine oil and coolant - car started to over heat like a blast furnace within 4 miles of dealership ... then they tried to blame it on me and say that lack of coolant does not damage engine either! If I hadn't checked it before I did a 250 mile trip it would have gone BANG!

Damper replaced in the singular and did not recommend both changed (as recommended by Honda UK as "Best practise" when I rang them to check). Found oily glove in footwell and it somehow needed two of them to test drive the car ... and they still didn't pick up on the low levels of oil and coolant.

Sent letter of complaint and they denied all responsibility. Told me that they deliberately didn't have specialist S2000 technicians as they wanted a human approach so that all techs see different cars throughout the day. Job sheet even said that one specific tech should NOT do the work!

Let me say it again ... awful ... truly awful.

Dealer Name: Southern Counties Crawley

Workmanship 10/10 - Everything I have asked them to do appears to have been done to a high standard.

Knowledge 10/10 - Even the parts chappie knew what Shin-etsu Grease was and what it's used for. And mechanics appear to know their way around an S

Customer Service 10/10 - Very polite, ring the day before to remind you that car is due in. Offered a courtesy car without asking (

Norton Way, Letchworth: bodyshop.

Had new wing/headlight/air pump fitted.

9/10; usual courteous service, good paint match & car cleaned well.

Let themselves down because headlight & bonnet rubbers weren't adjusted to my exacting standards (easy DIY fixes). But regained points for sending bodyshop manager round to my place with a spanner, to help re-align wing/door edge to my exacting standards!

Edit; it's not so much making a mistake; it's how you go about fixing it that's so important!
