Few people have had them .. mild gains but nothing special.

At the end of the day it's a piggyback, so will never be as good as a replacement ECU.

A couple of people have claimed reasonable gains but this has only ever been shown on the installer's dyno at the time of installation.

Know what 'stuff' from? I'm an IT engineer / desk jockey by qualification / trade.

I'm just into cars (have been since a nipper - my old man was too) and after modding my MR2 Turbo for a few years (about 5) I thought I'd start on something new hence the s2000. So I've been quite active in the Japanese tuning scene for a few years and you just pick stuff up.

I'm very inquisitive, I always want to know how something works, and then why it works. So before spending my cash, I do a bit of research. I also love tinkering and love working on the car. It's so much less stressful than 'work'.

The Unichip is one of the better piggybacks, as you can tweak timing as well as fuel (the Apexi vafc for example is fuel only). But I don't think it's available for lowering the vtec point yet (it was in the pipeline though).

Im a surveyor and dont know alot about modding cars. i was a big ford man in the boy racer years and i got a turbo and the rest put into a fiesta from Ashford Motor Sport in Essex.

Since i got the S i think ive come down with the bug again. Only same is its a company car. My plan is to buy it from the boss after 3years then go tracking and modding. Not to much modding planned yet though. Tuning the S is like a different world. Im still trying to get used to all the aberviations people use.

Tuning the S isn't that different. It's just that you have a better base than a Fiesta

It's like cooking a curry :
You can get a microwave meal, and it'll be done in 7 mins OR you can get good meat, some spices and spend hours prepairing it.

I have been tempted to start a garage, just because all the ones I see do pathetic jobs. When a garage needs an IT bod to come to their lockup in his lunch hourand show them how things get fitted, I lose all faith.

I really wish a lot of the newbies would do a little of this before asking questions. I know not all the answers are out there, but it is frustrating to see a question being asked which has been asked 100 times before, followed by a tetchy post when no one quickly posts a helpful response.

Not a go at the starter of this thread, by the way.
