Typically bluey grey but if lots of it is being burnt then it'll be black.

Does it just burn oil when you start up or even after its warmed up?

It happens after i've been driving for a couple of minutes, and then it stops.

Er, am getting a bit worried now!

Well it might be worn valve guides which allow a bit of oil to settle in the inlet tracts which then gets burnt off when you start up.

It doesn't sound like a piston ring because if that was buggered you would expect to see a smokescreen being laid down at all times.

It might just be a blocked breather pipe.

Suggest you get a competent mechanic to look at it rather than just worry and speculate what it might be.

if it runs like shit could be the MAP sensor needing a tap and the \ECU resetting...

mine ran like a totaled parcel one day i did that and it has given 110% ever since without further hiccups.

but also check ur oil and get a warrenty over the phone incase its not that !!!

Don't tap the sensor if I were you. I did see on the UTH forum that the map sensor plug is being replaced under a TSB (I think) and that basically a big zip tie around the plug and socket will keep the connection tight (which is apparently the cause of the problem).
