Daern's mini-meet
I was very happy to take part in my self organised mini-meet earlier today and had a great time! The final list of people attending was:
Daern
Mrs Daern (riding with Daern)
Noone else showed up, which is probably because:
a) I didn't tell anyone else
and
b) The meet began at 7am on a Sunday morning
I have not been able to have a proper drive in the S for a few weeks and I was desperate for a run. The weather was great on Saturday (car cleaned) and forecast good for Sunday, but I *hate* Sunday drives because of the huge numbers of old farts who head for the hills on Sunday. I'm also not too happy with some of the bikes, but that's another story
Anyway, off we went, tanked with Total SUL (guess who forgot to fill it up yesterday?) and headed to the start of the last Blurter meet. A quick (i.e. *very* quick) run to Hawes and a rather cloudy run over to Kirkby Stephen later, we stopped for breakfast in the one cafe there that opens at 9am. Fed and watered, we headed back for Hawes (via meandering routes) and arrived back in Settle for about 10.30am. We hit our first queue of elderly people 10 minutes after leaving Settle to return home, which means I had around 3 hours of clear open road hooning
At this time of year I can heartily recommend getting up early on a Sunday. I don't suppose East Lancs' many camera vans start work until at least after 10am and once you get into the hills you're generally not breaking speed limits anyway. Traffic is light and generally obliging (save for one embittered old man in a Rover who I had to follow for nearly 2 miles ) and on a beautiful day it's a lovely way to see the world.
There you have it. No pics because I've lost my camera. The car still managed 25mpg which amazed me - I obviously wasn't going quick enough! I was only nearly killed by one pack of bikers () and had a full on, fat bastard breakfast. Top drive
I hope you'll all come again next time, except that I probably won't tell anyone until afterwards - after all, sometimes two *is* a crowd

I won't tell you about mine if you don't tell me about yours, in which case Burnie won't know about either
Surely three ain't a crowd.
Possibility?
