Default Custom made hardtop catchers - anyone interested?

Im going to be looking into making the hardtop catchers which attaches the hardtop to the car. Ill be getting them drawn up on CAD and made via CNC. It will be alot cheaper than OEM, 2nd hand they currently go for £500 on ebay.

I will update shortly but at this moment in time whaninoz can get hold of alternatives to OEM.

Picture of what i will be looking into manufacturing to stop any confusion

are these all your need to mount a hardtop onto an older model?

it really annoys me when i see them on ebay for £500 odd considering what they are!

you can use the existing front catches on the car, so yes...

I saw the £500 catches on ebay aswell!!! Im not being funny but that is nearly the same cost as a hardtop and it is only for a bit of metal.

I can see the castings being easy, but not the twistlock mechanism in side. Iirc it's lined with plastic / ptfe and quite a complex shape. Dimensions will need to be cock on too!

why dont you work out how cheap you can make them, add a percentage for profit and put up the price so people can see if its good or not,

mark - rob is correct, i wont be making the twistlock part since majority of the hardtops comes with them.

My friend who will be putting it on cad, designs valves for nuclear power plants for a living, so i fully trust him on the measures.

Rob - thats what i will probably do but just wanted to see whether they are in demand or not? Im going to be making a set for myself anyway.

Does anyone have a OEM set laying about which i can borrow for a week and will pay you a fee for lending me them. Preferably somewhere near leeds so i can collect them.

I had access to some copies and was selling them for a lot less than the OEM, there were some interested people but not many.

this is them:

they fit perfectly, and hold the roof great.
