If you have any help to offer, let me know.
In the meantime no traders are being added.

I can help you recover money or with other more punitive measures
Others can advise on vetting procedures and all that stuff

Gad...from what I can see, you've only resurrected this thread to stir up sh1t, please leave it alone and let those who are directly affected by the matter sort it out
Most are well aware by now about CTL's trading performance by now.
I don't think that calling people 'muppets' and 'do-gooders' is justified either, in fact it's just plain RUDE (this comment does not explicitly concern you )
I'm sure all those involved are dealing with the situation as best as they can at the moment, and looking at better ways to protect buyers.
If the mods are given more time to sort the issue out (yes, they have regular jobs like most of us...except MB of course ) rather than moderating threads like this due to trolling, then perhaps the outcome you desire will be achieved more swiftly

Ian told us he/the mods would be reviewing 'the process' back at the end of 2009
you'll note I haven't asked about progress since then
so it seemed reasonable to ask now
Ian has given his reason for not being able to carry out the review and the steps taken in the interim
seems fine to me
I will ask again (if nothing has been heard) in another six weeks, which is also reasonable
the issue is much broader than CTL
I identified them as suspect pretty much from day one
I am only interested in protecting people from falling foul of similarly untrustworthy traders

This thread doesn't really serve much of a purpose now.
Old ground is being covered again and no doubt steps will be taken in due course to address the matters posted before Xmas.

Let the Mods do what needs to be done...help them (which is good of you ) via PM and keep this off the forum...as Haroon says, let it drop.
It's called a "Forum" for a reason.

So why not point it out at day one?
is likely to be criticised for being unfriendly
even when it was blindingly obvious that they were crooks (your words)
people were willing to make excuses and try and turn the argument against the people asking legitimate questions

No I haven't misunderstood. I don't see why you think that dragging up a subject that is being dealt with should be revisited when you see fit.

Bringing it up does not serve as an effective tool to warn potential buyers, it just wastes time as I have no doubt that Mods are forced to take time away from more pressing issues, to deal with threads like these.
I've given my reasons for resurrecting the thread
I'm not interested in explaining them to you any more
you've limited experience on this board
and likely to be gone like so many others within a year or so
I'm interested in the preservation of the forum and with it, its credibility
if you can't see that the debacle over 'approved status' and CTL has been damaging and has the potential to further damage
it will just have to be another thing we can agree to disagree on
I'm quite relaxed about that

That would not be unfriendly.
Fact that you didn't leads me to believe you didn't think it was blindingly obvious.
And that you're only here to stir things and create drama.
You've not offered one bit of constructive help on this issue.

You could have PM'd your thoughts any time, or posted them.

I really couldn't be arsed with naive people telling me I was being mean
It's really that simple
Things have moved on now
Approved status has been shown to be an inappropriate term
And what interests me (and I suspect others) now is the best way to avoid a repeat of the CTL shambles
which is why I've offered my help in my own area of expertise - so quite how you can say I haven't offered constructive help is rather strange
