Mine although alot older than yours is very notchy too, I get that jolt in 1st sometimes too however some days the gearbox can be ok. It's going into Honda next week for them to look at my rear whine and knocking so I'm going to get them to do all fluids which should hopefully make it better.

Mine too Until the oil in the gearbox warms up.

You cannot go wrong with Amsoil MTF or Honda gearbox oil. I believe they rate them as the best for our gearbox. From personal experience (i use Amsoil) is very good but it needs to be changed more often as it loses it's lubrication cabability sonner

I followed a link here from my local forum and thought I'd tell y'all that your second gear doesn't need to "crunch!" Change the clutch fluid and adjust the clutch rod to zero free play and voila, the car should shift as good as new!

Also, MTF change didn't help me at all (it's good maintenance anyways).

That's how mine feels from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd, it's as if the clutch pedal cannot be pushed far enough down.

mines been doing it alot more than normal recently.
2nd sometimes an issue (usually shifting to fast)
3rd has only been an issue over the last month.

a change of clutch master cylinder (mine was faulty and leaking) and a gearbox oil change should fix it for me. (oil arriving today hopefully!).

We get a club discount from Opie oils and they give a 5-10% discount on first order. I'm about to order some AMSOL MTF today

http://www.opieoils.co.uk/

or

Follow the link from the S2KUK home page benifits/suppliers.

My 56 is a little notchy, dosn't crunch but somtimes dose't quite make 4th on the way down. From Laserladys first post, I would look at changing the clutch fluid and taking out the play as it sounds to me that it's not dissengaging properly. IMHO

I was quite dissapointed with this "best gearbox in the world" when I first bought my S.. but an oil change later and its been amazing.. Its the oem stuff that Honda chuck in and even in the bitter cold, it can be a little stiff but there are no crunches at all.. the only time it got a bit crunchy again was in 35'C heat and a couple laps around the ring where it must have thinned out, but as soon as it cooled it was ok.. A lot of people opt for 'race' type oils which are quite crunchy when cold, although ofcourse will protect better in the heat on track..

I sometimes get that jolt when going into first though.. I've just taken it as normal.. THese types of cars sacrifice refinement for directness, a lot of the buffering seems to be removed.. the most obvious example of this is the stiff suspension..

im waiting on some fuchs oil from opie for the 3rd gear issue. (and a 20litre bottle of 10/40 too)
might just be weather as it's only been an issue in this warmer weather. it is due for a change though at 3years old...

I get that too, I just assume it's the drive shaft taking up the slack or something.
