Croft Track Day - June 22nd
WOW!
MY FIRST
My first track day just blew me away. Absolutely loved it and the adrenalin sits in your body for a good few hours afterwards.
For anybody who has an S I can't recommend enough doing a track day (well half a day). You get to know your car and what it can do (and can't ,eh Dad?).
This car is nothing short of fantastic. Mine is standard to the core but it handles with grace and is very forgiving when you over step the mark. OK the brakes leave A LOT to be desired (well, that's probably more to do with my cheap brake pads), infact they are crap when driven hard but all in all (and for the money) it's a superb motor.
Only had the car sideways twice (to much power to early) and braked too late for one corner and each time I was able to correct it (and I'm no expert) which says a lot for the cars handling.
I would definitely, definitely get an instructor to take you round for a few laps, you'll be amazed how much a small piece of tuition helps improve vastly your overall driving technique (thanks to Matt the instructor who fancied an S himself - Owners Club Card was passed on Ian).
The whole Croft experience is superb, very professional and very very organised and if anybody steps over the rules they are either off or spoken to.
MY LAST
I promised myself I'd only ever do this once as I wanted to see what the S could do. I hate flogging her on the best of days, so 1 hour on the track of hard driving was really good fun but not in my pride and joy, so next time it will be in somebody else's car.
I felt so guilty about hammering her so hard that when I got back it got washed, wash leathered and 2 hours worth of polishing.
A big thanks to my Dad (Lou - LifeCrisis: Monte Carlo Blue S2000) he seemed to know what he was doing unlike myself.
To my Mum, Michele & Tom for moral support (I needed it).
To Scott and Peter for the banter and piccies.
And to Mike and Colin for their pictures (all the gear and no idea!!! ).

Arran you must do another - the car is built to take it It's only tyres and brakes.
Nice write up. Now get signed up for Anglesey
Looking forward to seeing what Lou has to say too

I was thinking of doing one of these at Croft - Im in Darlington just down the road
How much was the day if you dont mind me asking, and what was the format for races - were you grouped into any category or just safety briefed and off you go.
Nice write up too
