Well, its done. Much better job and the bloke who did it was obviously not impressed with his colleague who did it originally. Anyway, all's well that ends well I guess!

Great to hear, Toully! I haven't had any issues with the rear view mirror wobbling over the past week so I hope yours is fitted just as well.
That etching though...

I had a look at the etching to see how annoying it is but its fine for me. I looked at the photo of yours and its stands out more against the car colour, with mine , being moonrock, its less visible.
My windows are all security etched but they didnt re-do the windscreen. Did they do yours?

As for insurance, you can check your policy wording, or 'Key Facts' to see that in most cases, you can exercise a right to: choose which parts are used on your car and more importantly, who fits them!
Insurers are merely steering you towards their 'preferred' or 'nominated' supplier.

I have been with four different Insurers who strictly specify whom you shall use.
The glass cover is not the same as damage repair, where indeed you may use whoever you see fit.
Perhaps a few people can look at the policy wording and ring them to check.

I think you are incorrect with that. In 'most' cases you have no choice.

At the end of the day its your car and you decide what gets used and as long as its equal to the original I dont see they would have a leg to stand on.

I had a replacement screen 6months ago due to loads of small defects (like sandblasting), and then a stone chip forced the renewal. Autoglass fitted a Pilkington screen on a weekend in my garage without hassle and a really good job. All I did was give them my registration number and parted with £50 excess and they took it from there. Yesterday I collected a flying stone from a truck in front of me and it looks like a call to Autoglass again...... SH*T !!!

Nope they didn't re-do my windscreen. I didn't even think of that until you just mentioned it...
Chet, you ever go to any of the meets? I just seen they have a bit of a meet in a pub (my kind of venue!) in Egham every 2nd Tue of the month.
