I was thinking of changing my S for one after I span it, although when I came round to my senses I soon changed my mind

I disagree, I think the interior in Audi's and in the TT is in a different league to the S2000 and all other Honda's. Its of much higher quality and I think it looks fantatic. In the S the interior is basic as it should be, but the plastics are very poor and cheap. The interior is the only part of the S I would change.

The rest of the Audi TT is a little bland, but it did have a very unique and cool external design when it came out, and its much better looking than the new boring TT. The handling and driving characteristics are dull as hell.

To be fair to it I haven't taken it for a proper blast - just the 8 mile journey in normal London traffic to the office. it felt ok round roundabouts etc. . but then when your driving and mostly obeying speed limits you never really get a brilliant feel for it.

The interior of the TT is one area where I think it really shines.....it feels like it's been engineered....

The S2000 interior is pretty cheap looking but of course this wasn't an issue for me as the quality of the interior was not something that concerned me

Having had a 225bhp TT Roadster in the not-too-distant past the only similarities that the TT and the S2000 have is that they are both convertibles.

The TT is very capable at what it does: swift, top down motoring from A to B in the least possible fuss, whereas the S2000 is more of a 'drivers car'.

However, I can't criticise the TT at all - I think the interior was fine, the car itself was fine, the traction incredible (the benefits of 4WD), and although the ride was more wooly than the S2000 it did hold the roads well if you put your faith in it, and the low down grunt of the turbocharged engine was very good too!

However, it's not anything like the S2000. You don't get the same buzz from driving it, you don't get the smile, you don't get the waves either, and there's nowhere near the same amount of exclusivity.

And yes, the design was groundbreaking when it was revealed, but is now starting to look a bit .. well .. dated. I suspect that's because of the amount of TTs that are around to be honest - a bit like listening to your favourite chart song over and over again. After a while you get a bit sick of it.

I do like the interior and still think that the exterior looks great. I think the shape will be considered a classic shape even if the volume of the means the car probably won't be a classic. The only problem with the exterior are the solicitor/hairdresser associations and the sheer ubiquity of the thing.

So as a design exercise I think it really works, but as an ownership proposition I never really entertained it.
