Default Corrosion on '02 wheels anyone ?

Washed the wheels at the weekend and noticed what looks like very small amounts of corrosion on the polished parts of my '02 wheels.

I look after my wheels - they are washed and waxed regularly and not kerbed at all.

Has anyone else noticed corrosion on their '02 (or later) model wheels ?

Yes, I have a claim in at the moment as in the corners of the spokes there is pitting which I cannot remove and I dont want to use an aggressive cleaner on them. Im just waiting to here from them.

I have noticed some minor bubbling in the corners of some of my wheels, but I was unsure exactly what it was.

I also have one, very small pit on the front right. Hardly worth worrying about though.

Took my 02 back to the dealer a couple of weeks ago as all 4 centre caps are corroding. They say that they will replace them all and would get them in a few days. Still waiting to hear from them.

I asked if they'd seen it before and he said only on a 95 civic!

I'll have to chase them up....

When I spoke to the Wicked Wheels guy last week about my scuffed alloys he told me not to spend money on getting them refurbished as all Jap wheels corrode during warranty period (apparently not much primer or something) and therefore I can just hold out for 12 months and get them replaced under warranty. And yes, after 12 months I have alreayyd found some pitting!

I've got one centre cap corroding, replacement orderded by dealer last thursday, came in today. Hope this is a sign of a good dealership at last, cause up to now I have not been very impressed.

Do all you guy's S2000s live outside? Maybe this accelerates the effect?

My alloys are ok so far but then every time I have a tyre changed the fitters damage the alloys, and they have to replace them with new ones.

Having said that at 19,000 I'm on the original front alloys because I've not had new front tyres yet.

No, my S lives in a garage and I don't even use it to go to work so it sees very little of the outside elements. I also use allow wheel wax occasionally and I've only done 11K miles! (The corrosion is very, very minor at present, but I know what to spot from examples posted on the board!)
