Default corroded alloys (again!)

Anyone had any luck getting Honda to replace the corroded alloys out of the 3 year warranty. Mine are going again approx. 18 months after the last set, despite cleaning every week. Dealer agrees but says it's a waste of time trying Honda - but also says Honda won't be responsible for any wheel failure following refurb of the existing alloys.

Any previous experience/success would be useful ammo!

Sorry! Just found Neil's thread from January - - no update on the outcome though. Any news?

In the meantime I'm going to put something on the Tell Honda forum.

Hi Dan,

Yes they have agreed to replace my wheel. Mine was about 12 months old and the car is nearly 4 years old (2days to go). I haven't had the wheel changed yet - it's sitting at my dealers waiting for me to take the car in in a few weeks.

PM me if you want any more info

HD

I would write to Honda UK Customer Service and tell them the problem you are having, and its not good enough that they are corroding again after just 18 months. And you would like them replaced again.

Email them with photos. It's even better if you can get your dealer on side. They sorted it out for me.

Dunno how accurate this is but I was talking to a salesman in SC Honda last week and the subject of "older design" S2000 alloys came up.

He told me that when a customer asked for his out of warranty alloys to be considered for replacing, they contacted Honda Uk.
They were then told that Honda had very quietly extended the warranty on the older alloys (not 02-03) to five years.

I have no idea if this kosher, nor do I know if it has clauses with it.

I know what I would say if someone turned up with scuffed, un-loved 4.5 year old alloys and asked me to replace them!

why only pre-02?
i know they aren't the same design, but they're the same wheel, using the same stuff, aren't they?

Thanks Neil,

Nice result! Hopefully if they've set a precedent replacing yours it'll be difficult for them to reject my claim. back to the dealer!

Let me get the wheel on my car before I give you my full details, otherwise Honda might change their minds
