Default Considering selling up...

Considering selling the S this summer, have enjoyed the short time i've had but mindful of the expected crash in values so looking for something a little more 'depreciation proof'...aka older.

It was an itch i just had to scratch after wanting one for Soooo long (just for the engine really) and do not regret my decision at all, but think it will probably be for sale early summer to try and capitalise on the higher prices.

Am considering an early 996 at the moment as do not need a daily drive and have an oil burner that the missus uses for the commute.... What i would be losing in depreciation on the S, I can spend keeping the porker on the road....

What do you think the S will be worth in a few months time....may/june, I would be hoping for as close to £20k as poss really, GT100 will have max 6k on it.

any guesses? can resurrect this post thread in 4 months time and see who is right...

Well, see carruthers ad. https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=744892

Admittedly, it's not a GT100 but I don't think they'll carry much of a premium.

My guess is £18-19k if you're lucky.

The cars changed very little over the years, so you can spend 13k on a 2005 model and get a very similar car to the 20k 2009 model, give or take a few miles on the clock.
Just looking on the for-sale forum shows some excellent condition earlier models for as little as 8-9k.

You’re looking for a very specific buyer who wants a new model, would prefer and S2K over any other 20k car, and (if I read correctly) is willing to pay the extra for the GT100 version.

I would value the Black non GT car at only £16-16500 hence it hasn't sold (isn't GT either), I think you should be able to get 18-19K assuming it is unmarked. I don't think the S2000 will ever gain classic status with the number of chavs now driving them :exitright:

P.S. If this is a For Sale thread I may be interested

I think it will once the boy racers move on.

Like the old Golf GTI, the Capri and the Cossie.
They all spent time on the Cheltenham One Way system or in the McDonalds carpark, but good examples are classics now.

Stick it in a garage for 10 years under a dust sheet and it’ll probably gain value.

Nah; thrash it & trash it!

Cars are a wasting asset and you should have good fun wasting them.

Gold is a far safer investment, but you can't have much fun with it.

Once you've paid your membership of course

A black one would've made much more sense, as well as looking much cooler
