Comptech Closing Down
#21
I can only speak as I find but Vortech customer service is good
they had a replacement part to me from the US in a week
this was only a few months ago not years in the past
some people in Edgware Mddlx are the UK agent
(will post link when can dig it out)

I don't know your experience in detail Mark but I wouldn't think it fair to expect much help with fitting/tuning problems from NS Racing as a distributor.
If they had supplied your supercharger new to an experienced tuner with a known track record, better support /a replacement might have been a reasonable ask

Adding forced induction to an S2000 is not easy. Mark's experience (as so well chronicled) shows you need rare skills and determination.
I have huge respect for anyone who tries themselves.
The alternative is to pay for the services of an experienced tuner.
They can deal with the suppliers from a strong position of direct knowledge/experience.
Tuning Japanese in Aldershot tuned mine, Tim Enderby. Although it was a while ago (2003) I would still recommend Tim for those considering Vortech in the Home Counties/SE of England. Although the technology has probably moved on mine still works well for me

That's one company I'd never use after my experience of them.
Where I found the basics of fitting the Comptech kit very easy .. it's the tuning that is going to be the hard part.
Which is why I'll wait for Mase in 2 weeks.

what was your (presumably) bad experience?

TBH mine was only to get an MOT map and essentially de-tuning!
Maca (my car's previous owner) had it tuned by them
some think the route Maca took wasn't the best way, but it still hangs together ok

Rog,
I had no dealings with NSR. I emailed Vortech direct about the leak I had on mine and they were pretty unresponsive, their answer was to send it back at huge cost for repair, when I eventually got a reply. I managed to get some drawings and solved it myself, and there was actually nothing wrong with it - as per my install thread.
As you say, determination is needed. I was inches from completing mine but the realisation that I really did need a decent ECU (ive never really documented that bit) and I couldnt be arsed to take it off and refit it again prevented me!

They were light on the enthusiasm & profesionalism and heavy on the sarcasm & put downs to everyone on the day.
They went through the cars in super quick time until it got to one of their "built" cars, which then then spent about an hour on making sure they got the highest results on his car.
Their advice on members cars was "give it to us with a suitcase full of cash", and for that they then seemed to not return the sort of performance or quality expected..
As I say, this was a fair while ago. But compared to other dyno days I've been on where you get friendly (free) advice which usually isn't a sales pitch, and the staff are only too happy to help and seem to enjoy their job.
I'd rather pay my money to someone I know is enthusiastic towards my plans.
