Hi,
Notice a rather intrusive resonance on overun between 3.5 - 2.5 r.p.m.? I did and have just had a clutch replacement under warranty at 9.5k miles. No more buzz.
Regards
N

Hello Mate

I have noticed quite a loud whinning noise if I rev to say 4000 and let the car decelerate itself. This noise seems to occur between 2000 and 3500 RPM's

Any Ideas? Not sure whether I am worrying about nothing,
thinking of taking it into dealer to get them to have a listen?

Any advise would be appreciated.

it's a common problem. i had it for ages and, like many other people, had to harrass honda for a while before they agreed to change the clutch. there's a service bulletin somewhere on the US s2000online site - the springs in the clutch resonate as you decelerate apparently. doesn't seem to do any harm, but it gets louder and louder over time.

go get it fixed if i were you.

Yep, thats exactly what mine does, Ive still got the original clutch on my 94k 1999 S2000, and it has the buzz and whine your describing. Im replacing mine in august with the OEM full kit, along with the service, so hopefully all the noises will disappear unless its a gearbox whine , but hearing your noises are the same its hopefully not.

Mine buzzed but it never bothered me. It just sounded very mechanical that's all. I have just replaced the clutch seeing as the engine and box were out and it had 91k on it though.
