Well, the pedal went to the floor, it seemed to come up a few seconds later, but then it was as if all the fluid had gone and she was pretty much immobilised. I'll let you know what they say, it does seem odd that it comes just after the new clutch kit. Before the new kit went in, the pedal was sqeaky in travel, after the kit went in that had disappeared, but on the am. of the failure I thought I'd heard it again!?
I haev about 7 days left of manufacturer's warranty. I get on quite well with the service manager at Fawcetts so I think I'm going to trust what they say.

Thanks C7BLE, I didn't think about that. I know the car's reached the dealer, but they haven't got back to me yet. Guess they have the days booked jobs to do too...will give them a call at lunch. It was the oddest thing, engine going, clutch flat to the floor...funny thing is, I managed to get the car off a dangerous road and into a close with the hazards on and the bonnet up, the amount of people who beeped the horn several times. I took to ju,ping out the car saying that I'm sorry I've broken down in an inconvenient for you, " Oh I thought you just parked there" It wasn't even a double yellow.

Another reason to practice clutchless changes.
Once drove through N. London traffic in rush hour without a clutch - wouldn't like to attempt it again these days!
It may be that they trapped the flexi hose, or merely irritating it caused it to fail.
You do seem to have suffered a bout of outrageous fortune in either case.

Apparently the slave cylinder has collapsed, new one on order, warranty job. Do I need to make sure that I get a 03 one, will they put in a 04-06 one with that extra delay valve, or is that just the states?

It's very unlikely that you'll get anything but an 03 one.
The dealer will stick in your VIN to their systems and it'll come back with the part no. for the 03 slave cylinder, he presses a button and it's ordered.
..... well that's the theory anyway.

Ask them to check the master cylynder at the same time. Ask them to also check the correct fluid was used when your clutch change was done. If it was a fluid incompatibility then the master cylinder should be changed as well and any flexible hoses.
