Default Clutch Life

Guys

I am looking to buy an S2k arround 2000-02.

I have read up o the noisey clutch release bearings but am seeing a few cars with recent clutches at 60k.

Is it all down to type of use or do the clutches rarely last past that mileage?

Should I judge each car individually on travel and bite or view anything over 60k as likely to need a clutch in the near future?

Usefull to hear if anyone has done +100k on the original clutch?

Thank in advance for the help.

Andy

96k and I've never changed the clutch. However, as it's a MY00 and not noisy I assume the previous owner had it changed under warranty in the first 50k miles.

It's the 054 clutch plate that vibrates under deceleration. The clutch itself is fine, but just abit noisy.

With regards to how long they last, I would say anywhere from 30K+, 57K here. Some members are in the 90k's. Like you say it depends on how it's been driven .

Mine had loads left when I changed it at 70K, so I don't think you need to worry.

As with many components, the life of the clutch will be dictated by the abuse (or lack thereof) it gets.

Lots of standing starts, bad gear changes, slipping the clutch at junctions etc. will all reduce the life of the clutch.
