Clutch issue........again!
Morning all
My Clutch plate is making a really bad noise now , Just way to much V-tec action, but I cant resist!
I've run a search but that was as helpful as talking to a brick wall.
Can people just remind me, and tell me if I'm correct..........
The noise at around 3000RPM on the older models is caused from the clutch, the problem can be resolved buy upgrading the clutch pressure plate? Is it true that it won't fail on me, its just an irritating noise?
I know its recommended to get a whole new clutch, but unfortunately I just cant afford to at the moment. So, do I just need to get the Clutch plate, and can any one recommend a good mechanic in the Herts/Essex area that could fit this for me?
Have a great weekend all
Chris

decellerating in gear from 4-3krpm is when it usually buzzes - esp after it's got hot from a good run. it won't fail on you because it is the 054 clutch, but that's not to say it won't fail for any other reason.
pressure plate was the main thing IIRC but there were other components that needed to be replaced to to make a decent job of it.

Any one have a list of the Components?

The noise comes from the clutch disc, not the pressure plate. The later discs change the spec of the springs on the plate which solved the 'chatter' which causes the noise.
If you change the clutch, it's cheaper to get the lot as a kit from Honda. That's the pressure plate and the disc. Worth changing the release bearing at the same time too. TBH though, if you have the old clutch disc noise (check that the noise happens between 3 and 4k when off the throttle as GSi says), then it is really just irritating rather than a problem, so worth considering putting up with it as it's not cheap changing the clutch.
