Default Clutch grinding noise

My clutch makes a bit of a grinding noise when it starts to bite and only lasts a second or so during take up but is annoying all the same. It's particularly noticable in stop-start traffic. Is this a fairly normal S2000 trait or something I should raise with a dealer before the warranty runs out in June? I don't here any other noises from it and it doesn't seem to make the noise people describe when dropping back down the revs.

My 02 certainly never made any noises like that AFAIK.

Just wait for the clutch to go and get a new one

take it to the dealer, I had 2 new clutches with similar symptoms, it is actually just the release bearing that needs lubricated

Ta, I'll chance my arm at the dealers although they will probably just blame the T1-R

you need a better dealer, Chathams are terrible

I've tried both branches with my car and Mrs Cables CTR and they have been breathtakingly bad

What sort of cost is associated with lubricating the release bearing Andy?

Nothing if you have a good relationship with your dealer

(I've never actually had to pay for it so not sure)

It's the release fork and throwout bearing (correcting my own mistake)

I've got exactly the same 'growling' symptom on mine, and have had it since I got it. There were a couple of threads quite a while ago about it (including mine), but I can't find them now... Search as effective as ever

I reported it to the stealer, they said they couldn't find anything, so I just put it down to a 'feature' and my crap clutch technique with a new car. If you rev match perfectly every time up and down the box, it doesn't do it ... but I can't...

It's due for a service in the next couple of weeks, so armed with the extra info in this thread, I shall ask them to lubricate the bearing / fork, whether they can find a fault or not.
