Well dot 4 is mineral based and dot 5 is silicone based.
True, but you probably won't find DOT 5 anywhere. What you will find is DOT 5.1 which is mineral based like DOT 4 but with a higher boiling point. Amazing how many knowledgable people don't seem to understand the diffence.
It was me with the problem mentioned , and if yours was the same as mine you'd know about it. It's off to Honda on Monday.

If you look at the second post Andy mentioned dot 4 or '5'

Going to be changing my slave cylinder this weekend providing it arrives in time. Am I right in thinking that I just want Hondas own DOT 4 Ultra Brake fluid for the clutch? How much will I need to totally replace the stuff in the system as whats in there is black. I'll probably want a bit extra to flush it as well.

Steve, forget Honda (mega price) any dot4 from halfrauds or your friendly local dude, 1L will be enough to flush through but pump the slave till it's almost empty and clean it out with paper towels then fill with fresh stuff and start flushing, don't let the level drop too low as it will suck in air. (DOH!)
