Thumbs up Cleaning rocker cover?

Mine's a bit dirty with general road grime, slight oil spills (why put the filler cap right back there in an engine which uses a fair bit of oil?!) and the like, and I'd like to get it bright bright red again!

What can I use to clean it? Don't fancy jetwashing the engine, but not sure if there's anything thats really good for these engines, as the red has quite a rough finish to it so a bit wsceptical!

Any suggestions?

I'm a bit nervous about the "wash off" bit cos engines aren't designed to be squirted with water - well, the electrics aren't anyway, and they're bound to get wet!!

Well, don't Kaercher it at point blank!

A light misting from a distance is fine.

Polish with one of those dreadful interior treatments ande an old T-shirt:

I use megs super degreaser (similar to AG engine and machine cleaner) agitated with a brush and then rinsed with a open ended hose at low flow! No problems at all on the S, my CTR or any other car i've ever had!

Warm Engine

Mr Muscle Kitchen cleaner

Old towel (or any other strong lint free cotton item to work out the nasty stubborn dirt)

2 buckets of hot water to rinse off

Gunk Spray engine degreasant

Pressure washer

Run engine to dry. Soak up remaining pools of water with towel

Turtle Wax Professional Wet'n'Black tyre spray (spray loads on, then use kitchen roll to wipe excess off. Protects engine/pipes/conduit and makes it shine!)

Tada!
