It's probably been covered a million times in other sites and a step by step will be on the K&N site, the filters and cleaning kits also come with a sheet and that should be a downloadbale PDF on the K&N site.

I have heard that a mix of petrol and engine oil can be used for re-oiling but the cost of petrol these days I'd rather just by the cleaning kit.

I used to use diesel back in the day but for how much the filters cost just get the cleaner.

The best thing to do is stick it in your dishwasher.

If you haven't got one, a litre of petrol/diesel will be fine - just slosh it about.

Don't bother with filter oil unless you are going somwhere really dusty - like a desert
