clay bar
wow - awesome product. well worth the 12 notes i paid for it.
i started with the bonnet first. a large hand-span area gave the clay a mid-brown colour will all the tar that was removed and the paint instantly felt way better. finished off the car, then super-resin polished it.
before was shiny, but im not sure if it's the placebo effect or if it actually has made a visual improvement - but it's VERY VERY shiny now.
i dont really know what else to say, other than im very happy with the end result even if it's just a smoother finish to the paintwork

Don't do it more than every 6 months.
The paint will tell you when it's needed. After you wash the car and wax it just run your hand lightly over the paint low down on the car's flanks. If it feels at all rough on your fingertips then it's time to think about either clay bar or a solvent based cleaner to get the trapped grime off.
Veehexx - no it's not your imagination. Now finish the car off with a nice coat of real wax on top of the SRP.
