so its not just me...im gunna try again i have just filled in the "call me back"service on ther website this might get ther attention if not ive got a good quote from admiral for

My insurance is not up for renewal until December and I am currently paying

well i called them again and the way the company underwriters work is that they wont insure anyone with the following post codes

SK
M
L
OL

so if you have the following dont bother

M, L and OL I can understand - they cover some very VERY high risk inner city areas.

A blanket ban on SK (which is Stockport and the surrounding areas) is a bit harder to understand. Yes, it covers central Stockport, parts of which aren't particularly salubrious, but it also covers a lot of rural areas. Wilmslow and Alderley Edge both have SK postcodes too, and they're decidedly different in character to inner city M, L and OL post codes!

Ah, the mysteries and vagaries of car insurance underwriting!

It actually is SK1-12 only postcodes which are excluded.

That still takes in a lot of the more affluent areas I was referring to though, Tim. AE and Wilmslow are both SK9 (from memory).

Although I suppose it could work the other way round for them - well-heeled areas with a lot of nice metal, therefore statistically more likely to attract car thieves?
