Default Check your tyre pressures!

I hadn't done it lately, all tyres were 4psi down on what they should be, I know I have no excuses and I'm ashamed to have been driving around on under-inflated tyres but from reading about people who have binned their car lately I was inclined to check them!

Tyre pressures drop when the temperature drops. Like this week.

So this may be a daft question but when should the 32PSI be measured? i.e. at what ambient temp?

For every 12c drop it makes a diff of 1 PSI.

Umesh,

Measure them when cold, on a regular basis. Works well enough for me.

I think, it doesn’t matter too much if all your tyres drop by 1-2psi so long as it’s consistent.
Of course it’s not great, but it’s not as bad as having one 4psi different from the others.

Agreed, i remember this was the first thing my dad ever told me when i passed my test and got in the car for the first time on my own, he asked me to pump up the tyres .

That's what I do, but if there is a large change in ambient temp I end up letting air out/putting more in every time I'm just curious as to what the 32psi is in reference to, if anything. Of course if it's just 32psi when you happen to check when cold then it's no problem The other reason being that during the lighter months I get sun on the driver's side which heats up the tyres and hence the ambient on one side is higher than the other so it's lop-sided

But then when in motion tyres won't necessarily be the same temp.

12c is a lot, I don't think the sun is likely to heat them up by that amount when ambient at that time of the year is mid-high twenties anyway.
