Choppers ?

Sweet baby Jesus and the orphans, as if it wasnt enough to have to find a good stretch of quiet road, in decent weather, arm yourself with ECM, keep an eye out for men with hairdriers, and of course drive safely at speed (check for gravel on road, no overtaking past junctions, slow down for 30's and 40's) . .. .

Now I have to keep a third eye open for a bunch of flyboys who have decided to play airwolf to get their jollies as well ?.

Perhaps we should just ban fun, sex, breathing, walking, fishing (gotta bring the carper in here), and colouring-in with felt pens and maybe laughter - that would put an end to it once and for all.

I think they have had the option of doing this for years, haven't you noticed the white squares in the middle of the road in places - markers for timing over a distance I believe - not sure how accurate this would be though.

Adam Im pretty sure the markers youve seen are used for timing a vehicle from another police car, in conjunction with its odometer / timing gear. I dont think the same principle could be used from a chopper, surely it must be more complex than that ? (one would hope so anyway).

I know that they operate the Helicopter(s) in the Derbyshire area (the Peaks) to track motorcyclists, and they can prosecute using GPS, but I had never heard of an actual conviction before

I will be very careful this weekend as I am off to Buxton for a driving weekend with 20+ people from Audi-Sport.net. Not sure which car to take yet, depends on this forthcoming evil weather.

Motorcyclists losing their licenses as result of being spotted/recorded by a police helicopter is a regular occurrence especially in Wales

They have been doing this for a number of years now.

Surely, as mentioned before, even plod would find this a terrible waste of money - the cost of running a helicopter for a few
