cheap petrol on Friday at Shell
#22
Shell Penhale (Kingsley Village) are on the list.............They dont sell V-Power! so I phoned to check, just got unobtainable.
Shell Carland Cross, "yes we are doing the discount £1.21.9"
Me "Thats what it was last week"
Shell "Yes it went up a couple of days ago"
Me "not much of an offer then?
Shell "Suppose not"
A couple of other Shell garages locally seem to have run out of V-Power.
I think I smell a con. At least in Cornwall.

Update
All but two Shell garages in western Cornwall have "run out" of V-Power.
The two that haven't hiked their prices last week.
And the garage that is on the list but dosen't stock V-Power lists eight different fuels on Shells site, not bad with only six pumps!
It's still cheeper at Tesco.

Just for the sake of it I wondered how much out of my way it would be worth driving to take advantage of this.
£1.20 per litre
26mpg is (4.54 l per g) = roughly 5 miles per litre. (that's a generous mpg too)
I fill up with 45 litres, 5p off per litre will save me £2.25
Or, in other words, about the cost of 8-9 miles worth of fuel.
I'll be passing a Tesco later in the week anyway, or I can drive 5 miles out of my way (and back) to save 5p per litre, which will actually save me less than what it would cost to drive to the garage.
Unless I fail at maths I think I'll be passing on this offer.

Now you are going to like this:
I started this thread because because if you were about to fill up it would save you a few pennies. I am not advocating driving out of your way at all, far from it, But 5p a litre off is 5p a litre and when I can save money I do.
The bad news is that I filled up with over £40 today at the station in the Shell list only to find that the garage 'didn't know' about the offer!
The attendant said they have had loads of angry customers today and the manager wasn't around to deal with the problem. I have emailed Shell as you have to wonder how genuine this offer is.

The discount is at the pump - ie the price is already 5p less - not a discount at the till. I suppose though its up to the garage to change their prices that day, and if they don't know or forget, well its too late.
