Changing V5 details

Changing V5 details
Just wanted to see if anyone had any experience on changing V5 details ?
I was thinking that i might try and get the DVLA to change mine from straight S2000 to a S2000 GT.
Mine now has the hardtop and all the extra loom bits and heated screen switch etc, so it is now the same spec as a GT. But when it comes to insure it the Hardtop is costing me MORE as a mod.
But if the Car was a GT on the V5 it would not only have one less mod the costs for GT's seems to be a little lower??!?
My car was a Euro import and came with the Hardtop but was list by the DVLA not as a GT.
As its a 2001 i dont think Honda sold them as GT's until 2002 ?
I can get my dealer to write a covering letter to say the car is the same spec a GT etc.
anyone done anything like this ??

I know you can get forms to change/corrections to your V5 from the main tax centres, but I think this only stretches as far as spelling mistakes etc. Its to do with the first form, when registering the car, I imported my first car and had to register it by filling out all the details and specification of the car, Be careful if you do change anything, If you start to mess about with the details of your V5 it could cause problems for future buyers when doing hpi checks etc, I know it is simply enough explained but if I were you I would simply leave your v5 the way as is and see if you can simply insure the car as a GT with your insurance company

Yep reckon you can get it sorted you will have to go down to the friendly DVLA office and ask. Just say its wrong and you want it corrected - how do I do it?
There was a guy in there asking about it changes to V5 cock ups the other day and getting them sorted - it is possible

There is no chance that the DVLA will change the description. What you are asking them to do is to falsely describe your car. Had your car been released is a similar year to a GT you may have got away with it but since it didn't the DVLA will only have your word that its a GT and it will not match their provided list of factory make and model against year of manufacture.

I don't think you will get anywhere. The computer systems they have will simply not allow it. DVLA may be able to change your car or Honda could verify but it wouldn't change their system data
BTW - I asked the same question as I was thinking of buying a hardtop for my MY00 car and I was told there would be a
