Default Changing Front Pads

I got the old pads out on the nearside. The outer pad had one shim/thin backing plate with clips; the inner pad had two. The new pads (blue print) come compete with one new shim on each. However the second inner shim (the one with a witness to where it made contact with the caliper piston) really doesn't seem to want to fit over the new shim on the new inner pad. The lugs only 'sort-of' line up and i'm not sure what to do. You can see where i've started to try to force the lugs over in the picture.

Can anyone help me with this please?

It's all in the service manual, which you can find online. Page 19-12.

Two shims on the inner pad, one on the outer. The Shime with two tabs on the curved edge goes on first, and the one with three tabs on the curved edge goes on second.

There is a good picture here, too: http://www.lingshond...74&block_05=hcr

Thanks so much for that. BUT... the new shim is different :-( so the two rear tabs partially overlap and the middle one fully overlaps. Here are the three parts (new one on rhs and outremost shim in the middle)
If i try to assemble as you say, the outer shim just 'pings' off.

Just clean up and reuse the original shims.

Yep, that's just about the solution i had decided on. A bit annoying though. Thanks for the replies.
